Introduction

Concrete Technology is a DPWH-aligned, four-day, 40-hour training program covering concrete materials, mix-design principles, production, transport, placement, compaction, curing, testing, quality control, durability, defects, and failure analysis.

Participants study the properties and behavior of cement, aggregates, water, chemical admixtures, fresh concrete, and hardened concrete. The course also covers batching and production processes, laboratory and field tests, mix proportioning, acceptance evaluation, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and QA/QC documentation.

The program is designed to strengthen the technical capability of engineers and construction practitioners involved in road construction, materials testing, project supervision, and quality control. It is identified in the source as part of the training requirements for the stated Contractors’/Consultants’ Project Engineer accreditation pathway.

Why This Course Matters

Concrete performance depends on decisions made throughout the material and construction process—from ingredient selection and proportioning to batching, transport, placement, compaction, curing, testing, acceptance, and documentation. Problems at any stage may result in low strength, reduced durability, cracking, defects, rejected work, rework, delay, or long-term service problems.
