Introduction

Road Safety Engineering is a four-day, 40-hour training program focused on the engineering and management of safety in road construction and maintenance projects. It addresses the risks that roadworks create for motorists, pedestrians, construction workers, and nearby communities and emphasizes the design and implementation of temporary traffic management systems, roadwork safety devices, and work-zone safety measures.

Participants learn how to design safe roadwork zones, apply the DPWH roadworks safety standards identified in the source, develop Traffic Management Plans, estimate the cost of road safety measures and traffic-control systems, and conduct road safety inspections and audits. Engineering lectures, practical workshops, and project case studies are used to connect technical requirements with actual road-project applications.
