Introduction

The Training of Trainers Course is a 24-hour program designed for prospective and practicing trainers who need to plan, prepare, deliver, facilitate, and evaluate workplace learning. It focuses on translating training needs into organized learning sessions that respond to participants’ backgrounds, learning preferences, and job requirements.

Through instructor-led discussions, group activities, material-development workshops, facilitation exercises, and practice presentations, participants strengthen their ability to organize content, select appropriate methods and media, prepare session plans, coach learners, handle questions, manage discussions, process activities, and evaluate training results.

Why This Course Matters

Subject-matter expertise does not automatically translate into effective training. A trainer must also know how adults learn, how to structure information, how to keep participants engaged, how to adjust to different learner needs, and how to determine whether learning has occurred.

This course helps organizations develop trainers who can deliver consistent, practical, and participant-centered learning. It is especially useful for workplace and OSH trainers who must communicate technical requirements clearly and guide learners toward safe, competent job performance.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, participants should be able to:

  1. Explain the importance of training in the workplace.
  2. Apply essential adult-learning and training principles.
  3. Develop training materials based on identified training needs.
  4. Organize the flow of a presentation and prepare effective session plans and discussion guides.
  5. Select suitable learning methods, media, and alternatives to lecture-only delivery.
  6. Apply facilitation, persuasive communication, presentation, and coaching skills.
  7. Process workshop activities, integrate learning, handle questions, and keep discussions under control.
  8. Manage training time and evaluate whether learning objectives were achieved.
